Mackinac Island

We took the ferry to Mackinac which is the only way to get there other than your own boat.(marina full can't get in) There are at least 500 year round residents. During the summer season they work 500 horses on the island, and they are moved off the island when winter comes. It's a bike riders paradise, especially the road around the island, its eight miles and we rode our bike's all the way.

Fort Mackinac

Michigan's only original Revolutionary War fort has been carefully restored.

Mackinac Island

We took a horse-drawn carriage tour of the islands scenic and historic sites.
This is Arch Rock rising 146 feet above the water. Arch rock is a natural curiosity which spans fifty feet at its widest point. It was formed over thousands of years by winds and water eroding soft rock below, leaving only the hard breccia rock which forms the arch.

Mackinac Island

This is the Governor's summer house.(nice)

Mackinac Island

We got back to the good ol USA on Sunday 8/1 and it is great to be back. Canada was pretty, but tired of all the BAR (big ass rocks)....... and it cost to much. We went thru customs at Drummond Island and then went to De Tour to stay the night. Then on Monday 8/2 we went to Mackinaw City to the State Marina (very nice).
